This eco-friendly destination is designed to support marine biodiversity while providing a unique snorkeling experience. Whether you're passionate about eco-tourism, interested in sustainable marine habitats, or simply looking for a fun outdoor adventure, Wahoo Bay is a must-visit.

Protecting Florida Reefs: Wahoo Bay’s Marine Conservation Efforts

At Wahoo Bay, conservation and adventure go hand in hand. This marine conservation area features an innovative network of concrete SEAHIVE™ structures—2,000 square feet of artificial reef formations spanning over 100 feet. These honeycomb-like structures serve a dual purpose:

  • Supporting Marine Life– SEAHIVE™ structures create a thriving underwater habitat, attracting a diverse array of marine species, helping to restore Florida reefs, and boosting biodiversity.

  • Protecting the Coastline–Acting as a protected reef system, SEAHIVES™ help reduce wave energy, minimizing coastal erosion and storm damage.

Coastal communities rely on natural barriers like mangroves and coral reefs to shield shorelines from flooding caused by powerful storms and seasonal hurricanes. At Wahoo Bay, cost-effective and environmentally friendly SEAHIVE™ structures have been installed to strengthen the coastline, absorb wave energy, and reduce erosion—providing a sustainable solution for shoreline protection.

Public Swim Schedule at Wahoo Bay

Wahoo Bay’s waters are tide-dependent to ensure the best swimming conditions. Public swims are scheduled during high tide in daylight hours year-round. Visitors can access Wahoo Bay by boat or from Roy L. Rogers Family Park, though parking is limited. We recommend using the free Circuit shuttle or taking the Water Taxi

PLEASE NOTE: No lifeguard is present at Wahoo Bay. Please swim at your own risk.
