What should I know about ocean conditions, rip currents, or wildlife?
Check lifeguard flags daily for swim conditions. You can also call the Beach Conditions Hotline before heading to the beach. Rip currents may occur, and seasonal jellyfish may appear. If you get caught in a rip current, do not try to swim to shore. Swim along the coast until the current returns to normal and then swim to shore. Sea turtles nest on beaches from March to October. Please admire them from a distance. In the unlikely event you come across an injured animal in distress, please call the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission.
